The assignment was to find organic objects and extract patterns and shapes from these to make graphic compositions only using a ruler, paper and pens.
The focus of the compositions were to explore the balance between different spaces: filled, empty or shaded.
I mainly used mushrooms and leaves which I photocopied and afterwards drew line patterns from at a light table.
To the right, you see some of the smaller pieces I did - real size ranging from about 5 x 5 to 10 x 7 cm.
The proces of studying my surroundings, understanding the patterns, extracting the points and recreating the findings in new ways - mediating, transforming - this detailed way of working is how I like to design.
